National Law Journal Names Chris Larus Intellectual Property Trailblazer
May 31, 2016
Chris Larus, Chair of the Minneapolis IP and Technology Group at Robins Kaplan LLP, has been named an Intellectual Property Trailblazer by the National Law Journal. This annual award recognizes the efforts of attorneys who are changing the ways in which IP is protected and managed, raising the bar on the practice of trademark, patent, and copyright law, and innovating in the field.
Larus is known for seeking out creative solutions to complex business problems. When a multinational corporation asked him how to analyze its portfolio of more than 9,000 patents to identify top prospects for licensing, he set out to create a specialized service utilizing predictive and descriptive analytics that enable attorneys at Robins Kaplan to review massive patent portfolios and identify the patents most likely to be successfully licensed, survive challenges in court or at the PTAB, or be otherwise monetized.
Larus also helps his clients achieve success in litigation and arbitration. Most recently, he concluded a four-week jury trial in a patent action against a subsidiary of multinational Amphenol Corporation. Chris led the trial team that proved 60 different accused products infringed his client’s patent, while simultaneously invalidating an Amphenol patent before the Patent Trial & Review Board.
