We’re Different. Really.
Be a Better Advocate
Our commitment to growing great trial lawyers begins with The Exceptional Advocate—our nationally recognized training program. During your summer with us you’ll participate in a seven-week arbitration skills workshop based directly on the principles of this acclaimed program. You’ll receive individual coaching and feedback on important skills like direct and cross-examinations, opening statements and closing arguments—all helping you to become a better lawyer faster. The workshop concludes with a little healthy competition in our state-of-the-art courtroom with a motion argument and arbitration against another Summer Associate team.
We believe in justice and our representation of those who would otherwise lack access to the court system serves as a profound source of personal and professional satisfaction. That is why we generously count all associate’s pro bono work toward their billable hour requirement without a cap. As a Summer Associate, you will work on pro bono matters helping firm attorneys solve problems for people who might not otherwise have access to a lawyer.
Real Work for Real Clients
We search out the most talented law students for our summer program so that we are confident they will add value to our teams. Summer Associates participate in helping us address complex and challenging legal issues. Typical assignments include conducting research and writing legal memos, drafting letters to clients and opposing counsel, and drafting motions.
Be a Better Writer
As a Summer Associate you will get feedback from the assigning attorney that focuses on both your writing and legal analysis. Suggestions on how to improve your next assignment will be included along with every evaluation you receive. You will meet with our best attorney writers and teachers three times during the summer. These meetings will cover organization, analysis, sentence and paragraph structure, artful and effective use of case law and facts, style and more.
When you work with the best, you become the best. Our standard for excellence challenges our Summer Associates to bring their A-game. We invite you to share in our success.

Summer Clerkship Compensation

In 2016, our Minneapolis, Boston and Los Angeles offices will host Summer Associates.
In 2016, our program will start on May 23rd and end on July 29th.
