Overview
Raoul Shah has dedicated his legal career to seeking justice for those injured by the actions of others. As an attorney practicing in Robins Kaplan’s Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice and Civil Rights Group, Raoul brings a tireless work ethic and a thoughtful, collaborative approach to every case. His creative mindset, coupled with strong courtroom and legal writing skills, consistently helps his clients achieve meaningful and just results.
Throughout his career, Raoul has tried over two dozen cases to verdict as a first-chair trial lawyer and written multiple appellate briefs. Raoul’s preparation and readiness to go the distance in representation of his clients has resulted in successful results on behalf of individuals and families, including against large corporations ranging from hospitals to delivery companies. His ability to take complex concepts and relay them in a straightforward, understandable manner makes him the guy you want in your corner, whether during case negotiations or in trial. While Raoul is tenacious in litigation, his clients consistently credit and appreciate his empathy and approachability. Quite simply, when you are facing your worst day, Raoul is there for you and has your back every step of the way.
Raoul’s current focus is on personal injury, medical malpractice, and appellate advocacy, but he is a well-rounded attorney with experience in almost every type of court who is ready to tackle any issue. He has extensive previous experience handling criminal cases such as DWIs, assaults, and homicides, along with civil cases related to child welfare and parental rights. Through his current pro bono practice, Raoul is experienced in litigating harassment restraining orders and orders for protection in family court, and handling criminal expungements and immigration issues, among other things. Raoul has worked on complicated legal issues at all stages of the court process, including his unique experience in handling the litigation and the review of several complex and high-profile cases involving police officer uses of force.
Before joining Robins Kaplan, Raoul served as an Assistant Hennepin County Attorney, where he worked closely with multidisciplinary teams and other parties to advance the wellbeing of children involved in the child protection system. He later became a felony prosecutor, focusing on prosecuting crimes committed against children. Raoul championed the rights of crime victims and pursued justice by holding offenders accountable, while striving to ensure fairness and integrity for all throughout the criminal prosecution process. His extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system makes him a multidimensional asset to clients whose cases touch on both the civil and criminal systems. Raoul also previously clerked for the Honorable Judge John R. Rodenberg on the Minnesota Court of Appeals, where he analyzed a wide range of civil and criminal appellate issues.
During law school, Raoul was an associate and editor for the Mitchell Hamline Law Journal of Public Policy and Practice and a member and President of the Delta Theta Phi Professional Law Fraternity. Before law school, Raoul served as a Community Service Officer for the Minneapolis Police Department, and an investigative intern with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Minnesota Department of Corrections. These roles give him a practical and informed perspective when analyzing and presenting cases and working with individuals of varying backgrounds.
In his spare time, Raoul enjoys running, walking, and hiking with his two dogs and wife, and playing trumpet in a local brass band.

$900,000 Settlement on Behalf of Client With Traumatic Brain Injury
Darcy and Daniel Vorwerk v. Christopher Edward Oswald and C&E Delivery Corporation: Achieved a $900,000 settlement on behalf of client after she sustained a traumatic brain injury caused by a rear-end car crash. As a result of the traumatic brain injury, the client now suffers from hypersomnia. A majority of the settlement dollars will help ensure the client has the ability to pay for her expensive medication to treat hypersomnia.
$500,000 Settlement
Obtained a $500,000 settlement from the federal government on behalf of our clients after their family member died by suicide while admitted to and under the care of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
$250,000 Settlement
Reached a $250,000 settlement for client who was assaulted by a bar bouncer.
