Obtained More than $40 Million in Settlements for Victims of Alleged Blood Reagents Price-Fixing Conspiracy
October 25, 2018
In re: Blood Reagents Antitrust Litigation, 09-md-02081 (E.D. Penn.)
Robins Kaplan served on the executive committee in this class action, which alleged that defendants Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, Inc., a former Johnson & Johnson subsidiary, colluded with Immucor, Inc. to raise prices on traditional blood reagents, which are used to test blood before transfusions and donations. Aggregate settlements totaled more than $40 million and the case concluded in October 2018. Notably, the Department of Justice had initially opened a criminal investigation into defendants’ practices, but subsequently closed the investigation without taking any action.
