Christopher Larus, Robins Kaplan Shortlisted for Benchmark Litigation 2024 Awards

Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that Christopher Larus has been named a finalist for Benchmark Litigation’s Intellectual Property Litigator of the Year Award. Additionally, the firm was selected as a finalist for Law Firm of the Year in Minnesota.

According to Benchmark Litigation, these awards recognize the nation's top litigators and their firms for their exemplary work over the past 12 months.

Christopher Larus is the chair of the firm’s National IP and Technology Litigation Group. For more than 25 years, he has helped leading technology companies protect and monetize their intellectual property. Larus is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and certified as a Civil Trial Law Specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association. He tries complex patent, trade secret, trademark, copyright, and licensing dispute cases in courts throughout the United States and in both national and international arbitration. He has extensive experience planning and implementing licensing campaigns involving a broad range of intellectual property assets and technologies.

In the past year alone, Larus has achieved the following:

  • Confidential settlements on behalf of patent holder Wapp Tech L.P. in a series of related patent infringement suits against two Fortune 500 banks in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
  • A settlement on the eve of trial on behalf of content creator FurnitureDealer.net in a copyright infringement suit against Amazon in the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.
  • A vital interlocutory appellate win before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit compelling arbitration of a trade secret dispute on behalf of a global leader in water technology. The matter was resolved following the decision of the Third Circuit in January 2023.
  • A complete defense jury verdict in favor of developers of payroll processing software in a significant software licensing dispute with total claims in excess of $160 million. All matters were resolved on confidential terms in January 2023.

The Benchmark Litigation 2024 award winners will be announced at a ceremony in New York City on March 13.
