Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to sponsor the IPWatchdog Artificial Intelligence Masters™️ program in Ashburn, VA. The conference focused on how to protect and license software-related innovation, as well as the many legal issues related to its implementation.
On Tuesday, March 7, Steven C. Carlson spoke on a panel titled, "Data Permission: Do You Have the Rights to the AI Training Data?" This panel discussed use, acquisition, and IP risk mitigation of AI and ML training data.
Also on Tuesday, March 7, Bryan Mechell and David Prange participated in the panel titled, "From Licensing to Litigation: Strategies for Protecting Software IP Assets." Moderated by Mr. Mechell, this panel discussed the benefits associated with various methods of IP protection for software assets, and how to craft effective license terms to maximize those benefits. In addition, panelists discussed real-world scenarios where terms gave rise to litigation of software-related patents, trade secrets, copyrights, and breach of license.
