Profiles in Diversity Journal has named Robins Kaplan LLP partners Melissa D’Alelio and Denise Rahne to its 2019 Women Worth Watching list, which recognizes women pioneers across the globe who are making a difference in their workplaces and communities.

Recognized as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer, Up and Coming Lawyer, or Rising Star every year from 2011 through 2016, D’Alelio successfully counsels clients in cases involving a wide variety of insurance lines, including commercial property and homeowner’s policies, and represents them in litigation and trial.  Ms. D’Alelio has substantial experience defending litigation over collapse, design defect, earth movement, environmental exposure, and catastrophe claims such as tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, fires, and windstorms.  She also helps her clients quickly and efficiently resolve measurement disputes in appraisal.  D’Alelio’s insurance practice also includes the resolution and litigation of liability coverage issues under commercial policies.  D’Alelio works with her clients to avoid the escalation of conflict and to achieve reasonable and cost-effective determinations, counseling her clients on ways to minimize exposure to extra-contractual “bad faith” liability claims.

Since 2011, D’Alelio has served as Vice Chair of the American Bar Association’s Property Insurance Law Committee (PILC).  She is a member of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC), serving as Vice Chair of the Property Insurance Law Section.  She also co-founded the firm’s Women in Insurance group, which highlights and features women’s voices in the insurance industry.  She is also is a leader in the firm’s Diversity Committee, and has been an active member of the Massachusetts Women’s Bar Association (WBA) for over a decade.

Rahne’s practice focuses on disputes involving estates, trusts, fiduciaries, and closely held corporations. Her impressive record of results also includes matters involving a range of commercial disputes, including intellectual property. Rahne serves corporate and individual clients facing a wide variety of active and potential litigation. She has lead and collaborated on large and mid-size legal teams and has significant experience in traditional and alternative-dispute forums.

Rahne’s skills and insight have earned her multiple leadership roles beyond the courtroom. Within the firm, she heads the Estate and Trust Litigation Practice Group, has served on the Diversity Committee, and chaired the Hiring Committee for four years. In addition, she serves the broader community as a board member of multiple non-profit organizations including The Children’s Law Center and College Possible Minnesota.
