Bittman brings more than two decades of experience handling high-stakes intellectual property disputes involving complex mechanical, electrical, and software technologies. His practice focuses on patent litigation, trade secret disputes, inter partes review and post grant proceedings, and intellectual property counseling.
He has represented clients in federal and state courts throughout the country, before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, the International Trade Commission, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Bittman has played key roles in several significant trials in the last few years, including cases involving trade secret misappropriation and patent infringement at the International Trade Commission and in Texas state court.
“Scott is a highly accomplished trial lawyer and IP strategist with an impressive track record in complex patent and trade secret disputes,” said Oren Langer, Managing Partner of the New York office. “His deep technical knowledge and courtroom success further strengthen our nationally recognized intellectual property litigation team and enhance our ability to serve clients facing sophisticated technology disputes.”
In addition to litigation, Bittman advises clients on patent and trademark procurement, freedom-to-operate in view of patents held by others, intellectual property enforcement strategies, licensing matters, and due diligence associated with corporate transactions.
“I’m excited to join Robins Kaplan and its premier intellectual property litigation team,” Bittman said. “The firm’s reputation for trial excellence and commitment to handling cutting-edge disputes made this an exceptional opportunity. I look forward to helping clients protect and defend their most valuable innovations.”
