Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that partner Scott Johnson has been selected to receive a 2026 Minnesota ICON award from Finance & Commerce and Minnesota Lawyer. The award recognizes influential and respected leaders in Minnesota’s business and legal communities for their decades of professional achievement, exceptional leadership, and lasting impact on their industries.

Johnson’s career with Robins Kaplan spans more than 40 years, beginning in 1984 when he joined the firm as a law clerk while attending William Mitchell College of Law. Today, he is an accomplished litigator who represents insurers in complex insurance and reinsurance disputes nationwide, with an extensive record of victories at the trial and appellate levels.

Throughout his career, Johnson has been a dedicated leader, mentor, and advocate for his community. He previously served for six years as managing partner of the firm’s former Orange County office and has helped develop generations of attorneys through mentorship and the firm’s First Chair program.

“Scott has made an incredible impact on Robins Kaplan over the course of his career,” said Anthony Froio, Chair of the Executive Board and Managing Partner. “He has earned the trust of our insurance clients through decades of exceptional work and results, while also serving as a trusted colleague and mentor to so many across our firm. This recognition is incredibly well deserved.”

Beyond the firm, Johnson has served for approximately 18 years on the Board of Trustees of the Winona State University Foundation and has provided pro bono representation through organizations including The Advocates for Human Rights and Volunteer Lawyers Network. He also volunteers with Every Meal and Feed My Starving Children.

Johnson has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America and BTI Client Service All-Stars for his legal work and commitment to client service.

This year’s Minnesota ICON award honorees will be celebrated at an event at Quincy Hall in northeast Minneapolis on December 10.
