Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that Sharon Roberg-Perez has returned to the firm as a partner in its Intellectual Property and Technology Litigation Group. An M.I.T.-trained Ph.D. biologist and registered patent attorney, Dr. Roberg-Perez brings extensive experience spanning patent litigation, scientific research, and intellectual property investments.
Dr. Roberg-Perez focuses her practice on patent matters involving life sciences, biotechnology, medical devices, and other complex technologies. She advises clients on intellectual property strategy and represents companies, inventors, and universities in patent disputes involving a wide range of technologies.
Before returning to Robins Kaplan, Dr. Roberg-Perez served as a Director in the IP finance group at a large investment company, where she conducted patent and technical diligence for life sciences, healthcare, and medical device patent-backed investments. In that role, she evaluated patent portfolios and advised on patent prosecution and portfolio-building strategies designed to strengthen intellectual property assets and enhance their licensing and monetization potential.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sherry back to Robins Kaplan,” said Anthony Froio, Chair of the Executive Board and Managing Partner. “We know firsthand what an exceptional lawyer and colleague she is, and the experience she has gained since her time at the firm only adds to what she can offer our clients.”
Dr. Roberg-Perez began her career in science, spending more than a decade as a molecular biologist, including with biotechnology and genomics start-up companies. As a patent litigator, she has represented innovative biotechnology companies, individual inventors, universities, and a major medical device manufacturer in disputes involving technologies ranging from novel cancer therapies and cell-based assays to transcatheter heart valves and other medical devices.
“I’m excited to return to Robins Kaplan and once again get to work alongside my former colleagues, who are talented trial lawyers,” said Dr. Roberg-Perez. “My time working on IP investments gave me an additional perspective on how companies and investors evaluate patent strength, risk, and value, and I look forward to bringing that experience to my work with clients.”
