Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that David Martinez and James Menton Jr. have been recognized in the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2025 “Leaders of Influence: Litigators & Trial Attorneys” special edition publication. This annual list honors a select group of standout lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional litigation skills, leadership, and impact on the legal community in the Los Angeles region.

This marks the fourth consecutive year Mr. Martinez has been selected for this prestigious recognition. With more than 25 years of experience, Mr. Martinez represents a wide range of U.S. and international clients in all forms of dispute resolution and business counseling, with emphasis in the areas of commercial, intellectual property, unfair competition, shareholder and partnership litigation, arbitration, and mediation. His clients range from individuals to start-ups to Fortune 100 companies in the real estate, fashion, media, financial, entertainment, manufacturing, technology, and legal services industries. He also serves as outside general counsel for select clients.

A longtime leader at Robins Kaplan, Mr. Martinez is an elected member of the firm’s Executive Board and a member of its Diversity Committee. Deeply committed to public service, he has served on the Board of Directors for California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc., for over 15 years. Mr. Martinez is often recognized by his clients and peers for excellence in the legal industry, including as one of the 500 Leading Litigators in America by Lawdragon; a Top Intellectual Property Lawyer by the Los Angeles Daily Journal; and a Stand-Out Lawyer by Thomson Reuters. As Chair of Robins Kaplan’s Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy Group, Mr. Menton brings over 30 years of experience navigating high-stakes corporate bankruptcies, fiduciary disputes, and complex litigation. His practice spans distressed debt litigation, asset recovery, and creditor’s rights, with a client base that includes debtors, trustees, creditors, directors and officers, and investment funds. Known for delivering strategic, results-driven legal solutions, Mr. Menton has resolved multi-million-dollar matters across industries such as real estate, finance, healthcare, and entertainment.

Mr. Menton’s leadership extends beyond client advocacy. He is dedicated to public service, earning the Wiley M. Manuel Pro Bono Certificate for his significant pro bono work. He has actively contributed to the legal profession through roles on the California State Bar’s Business Law Section and Law360’s Bankruptcy Editorial Advisory Board and has served in leadership positions within the American Bar Association and Turnaround Management Association. Mr. Menton has received recognition for his legal acumen and client service from Lawdragon's 500 Leading Global Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyers, Los Angeles Business Journal’s Top 100 Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America, and Southern California Super Lawyers.
