Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that partner Patrick Arenz has been named Minnesota Litigator of the Year in the 2025 Managing IP Awards. The awards were presented at a gala dinner in New York City, where Arenz was honored among the legal industry's most accomplished intellectual property practitioners.
"Patrick’s leadership and incredible skills as a trial lawyer continue to achieve remarkable results for our clients," said Logan Drew, Chair of the National IP & Technology Litigation Group at Robins Kaplan. "This recognition highlights our firm's commitment to excellence in intellectual property litigation and the exceptional talent of our trial attorneys."
Arenz is a renowned trial lawyer with a proven record of success in high-stakes litigation across intellectual property, personal injury, and business disputes. In January 2024, Arenz led a Robins Kaplan trial team to secure a landmark $42.4 million verdict for Willis Electric in a patent infringement case against competitor Polygroup. The jury found Polygroup had willfully infringed Willis Electric's patent for its innovative "One Plug Tree" technology, which revolutionized artificial Christmas tree assembly. This verdict is reported to be the largest patent jury verdict in District of Minnesota history.
Named a five-time Attorney of the Year by Minnesota Lawyer and recognized as a Trailblazer by The American Lawyer, Arenz represents diverse clients from individuals to Fortune 100 companies. His experience spans patent and copyright infringement, rights of publicity, trade secret misappropriation, and complex business litigation. Arenz is also dedicated to pro bono work, having chaired Robins Kaplan's nationally recognized Pro Bono Committee and received the ABA's prestigious Pro Bono Publico Award.
Mr. Arenz is a Fellow in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers.
