Simple Steps to Protecting Confidential Information in the Global Economy

The globalised economy presents companies with broad opportunities for growth and research development partnerships. These opportunities may require the sharing of company confidential information; critical in maintaining a company’s competitive advantage is protecting from uncontrolled disclosure of that information. A protection plan should consider the legal framework that would be applied if a dispute arose regarding use or dissemination of the confidential information. This article provides a brief overview of the legal framework for the US and the UK, and common suggestions for improving protection.
