Consumer Alert: Imprelis Herbicide Class Action
August 9, 2011
On August 5, 2011, Robins, Kaplan, Miller, & Ciresi L.L.P. filed a Minnesota class action lawsuit against the DuPont chemical company over its herbicide Imprelis®. Introduced to the market in late 2010 to control unwanted broadleaf weeds such as dandelions and ground ivy, DuPont claimed Imprelis® was environmentally friendly. However, Imprelis® has been linked to the significant damage and death of desirable vegetation including trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants. It has particularly affected certain species of conifer trees in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The firm has filed suit on behalf of a Woodbury, Minnesota, resident and others similarly situated, who have suffered property damage to numerous trees and other desirable vegetation.
DuPont recently announced it will suspend sales of Imprelis®. The EPA is also currently investigating the product.
More information about our case, Christensen v. E.I. Du Pont De Nemours and Company 11cv2231, is available in a Star Tribune article (see August 6, 2011 issue), as well as in a July 14, 2011 New York Times article.
