New York Law Journal Recognizes Hollis Salzman as a Distinguished Leader

July 20, 2017

NEW YORK, NY—July 20, 2017—Robins Kaplan LLP® partner Hollis Salzman has been named to the New York Law Journal’s first-ever list of Distinguished Leaders. The award honors attorneys in leadership positions who achieved impressive and positive results over the past year, while demonstrating clear leadership skills.

Salzman, who co-chairs the national Antitrust and Trade Regulation group at Robins Kaplan, serves as the hiring partner and assistant managing partner of the firm’s New York office, and sits on the firm wide Executive Board, is one of only 22 attorneys recognized.

Throughout her 20-plus-year career, Salzman has been appointed co-lead counsel on a number of the world’s largest antitrust cases, and has recovered more than $2 billion in settlements for victims of antitrust cartels. As co-lead counsel in In re Air Cargo Shipping Services Litigation, a class action against many of the world’s largest airlines, Salzman secured over $1.2 billion in settlements for purchasers of airfreight services. She is currently co-lead counsel in In re Automotive Parts Antitrust Litigation, and has recovered more than $715 million for purchasers of car parts affected by price-fixing agreements to date. Among other cases, Salzman also acts as co-lead counsel in antitrust litigation against the four dominant manufacturers and the largest distributor of contact lenses, and in litigation against the two dominant suppliers of IV saline solution, a vital medical supply.

Beyond her work for plaintiffs, Salzman is a champion of diversity in the profession. Most recently, she helped implement the “Rooney Rule” at Robins Kaplan to increase the diversity of its associate base. The policy, named for a National Football League rule, requires the firm to interview at least one minority candidate for every lateral associate hire. Within one year, the policy has allowed the firm to quadruple the percentage of attorneys of color it hired for lateral associate positions.

Salzman was honored at an awards dinner and featured in a special section of the New York Law Journal in October. Her profile is available here
