Robins Kaplan Civil Rights Practice Group Named Elite Trial Lawyers
August 3, 2021
Robins Kaplan is pleased to announce that the firm has been awarded the National Law Journal’s 2021 Elite Trial Lawyers Award for Civil Rights. This award recognizes law firms that have provided cutting-edge representation and achieved major wins on behalf of civil-rights plaintiffs.
The Civil Rights Group at Robins Kaplan is composed of partners Bob Bennett, Katie Bennett and Andy Noel and counsel Marc Betinsky. They have obtained over $80 million in verdicts and settlements for victims of unconstitutional governmental conduct and police brutality. They have successfully represented people in lawsuits involving a variety of claims, including arrests, protester injuries, use of deadly force, excessive force, K9 attacks, jail and prison suicides and denial of medical treatment. Their successes include obtaining jury verdicts and settlements against cities and counties along with effecting changes in policies and practices relating to policing and corrections.
In addition, the National Law Journal announced in May that Meegan Hollywood, a partner in the firm’s Antitrust and Trade Regulation Group and Kathryn Bennett, a partner in the firm’s Civil Rights Practice Group were named to the inaugural list of “Rising Stars of the Plaintiffs Bar.” This category recognizes a select group of lawyers under age 40 who are up-and-comers in the plaintiffs’ bar.
The winners were announced at a ceremony in New York City on July 29.
