Seasoned Health Care Litigator Joins Robins Kaplan
October 19, 2020
Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that Paul Weller has joined the firm as a partner in the Health Care Litigation Group.
Mr. Weller joins the firm after leading litigation teams for the last decade on behalf of managed care organizations, most recently at a Fortune 10 health care company. In that role, he oversaw all provider litigation, including class action matters and ERISA disputes. He also directed major internal investigations and lawsuits involving health care fraud and other forms of wrongdoing, recovering millions of dollars for the company.
Before being recruited to go in-house, Mr. Weller served as a partner at a large national law firm where he tried cases, including arbitrations and bench and jury trials in both state and federal courts. He also served as a trial advocacy instructor and is a frequently requested speaker at conferences on legal issues facing the managed care industry.
“Paul comes to us with a great deal of experience leading teams through complex litigation and business issues,” says Jeff Gleason, co-chair of the firm’s Health Care Litigation Group. “His extensive work in the health care field will be a tremendous asset as we continue to expand our litigation team. We are thrilled to have him join us.”
“After being a buyer of outside counsel services for a decade, I decided to join Robins Kaplan because they are at the top of the game when it comes to health care litigation for managed care organizations, particularly affirmative litigation,” says Mr. Weller. “I am very excited about what the future holds.”
Robins Kaplan’s health care litigation practice includes a broad and diverse team of professionals with a deep understanding of the health care landscape and extensive experience in high-stakes litigation. This team represents payors in affirmative recoveries and defensive actions in courts and arbitrations across the country, and is singularly focused on the business interests of its clients. In addition to Jeff Gleason, the health care litigation team at Robins Kaplan is co-chaired by partners Tom Mahlum and Jamie Kurtz. We are pleased to have Paul join the team.
