Robins Kaplan LLP Announces Leadership Transitions in Diversity, Recruiting
January 14, 2019
Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce leadership transitions in the firm’s Recruiting/Hiring and Diversity and Inclusion Committees. Brandon Vaughn has been appointed chair of the Recruiting/Hiring Committee, replacing Denise Rahne, who is stepping down from that role after four years. In addition, Sherry Roberg-Perez has been appointed co-chair of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, replacing Vaughn, who has been in that role since 2017. Both appointments were effective January 1, 2019.
Vaughn, a principal in the firm’s Minneapolis office, has served in various leadership roles in the firm and professional organizations. Vaughn successfully increased Robins Kaplan’s participation in a clerkship program offered by the nonprofit Twin Cities Diversity in Practice and regularly provides career counseling to associates of color and other young attorneys. Among his many other volunteer efforts, Vaughn has been involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters and participates annually in workshops for Just the Beginning Foundation’s Summer Legal Institute for high school students in the Twin Cities.
Roberg-Perez, a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology group, serves on the firm’s diversity committee, co-chaired the firm’s Racial and Ethnic Diversity Working Group, and has been an instructor in the firm’s Exceptional Advocate Training Program. She has been recognized for her professional accomplishments and leadership, being named an “Up and Coming Attorney” by Minnesota Lawyer and a “Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyers, and was a 2014 fellow in the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s fellowship program. Her recent pro bono work has included representing clients as part of Project Corazon, which was created to help reunite families separated by the current immigration policies, and serving as co-counsel with Lambda Legal in successfully representing an incarcerated transgender woman who had been denied necessary medical care under an unconstitutional, Missouri Department of Corrections’ policy. She currently serves on the boards of the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota and the Twin Cities American Heart Association.
