Three Robins Kaplan Firm Members Recognized as Leaders by Minnesota Lawyer

June 27, 2018

Minneapolis, MN—June 27, 2018— Minnesota Lawyer has recognized Robins Kaplan LLP® associate Ami ElShareif as a 2018 Up & Coming Attorney, and business professionals Daniel Owen and Lori Buck as 2018 Unsung Legal Heroes.

Each year, Minnesota Lawyer honors attorneys within their first decade of practice based on their excellent and distinguishing performance. Winners are chosen based on their professional accomplishment, leadership service to the community and the profession, or achievement as in-house counsel. ElShareif is one of only 24 attorneys named to this year’s list.

ElShareif’s practice focuses on a variety of business litigation disputes, ranging from breaches of contract to employer-whistleblower defense, debt collection practices, and food labeling issues. She is an integral part of the firm’s fast-growing healthcare practice, and is currently litigating several high-stakes fraud schemes on behalf of some of the nation’s largest insurers. She also recently received the Hennepin County Bar Association’s 2018 Excellence Award, which honors HCBA members who have made contributions to the community, the organization, and the legal profession.

Daniel Owen, director of administrative project management, and Lori Buck, legal administrative assistant, were recognized as Unsung Legal Heroes, an award reserved for Minnesota’s most talented and dedicated legal support professionals. This award honors law firm employees who have constantly gone above and beyond the call of duty, often behind the scenes. Owen and Buck are two of only 24 recipients of this year’s award.

Both Owen and Buck have worked at Robins Kaplan for over a decade, and have contributed significantly to the firm throughout that time. Notably, following the firm’s pro bono work representing victims and families of the I-35W bridge collapse, Owen helped produce videos that convinced lawmakers to lift a statutory cap on damages from $1 million to $36.6 million. And Buck, in an effort to help further maximize efficiencies at the firm, took the initiative to assist in revamping Robins Kaplan’s document filing system through the creation of a Document Retention Task Force and Standard File Maintenance Committee.
