Robins Kaplan LLP Recognized as One of Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota’s 2018 Pro Bono Partners of the Year
June 13, 2018
Minneapolis, MN—June 13, 2018—Robins Kaplan LLP® today announced that it has been recognized as one of the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota (ILCM)’s 2018 Pro Bono Partners of the Year for its work on the Cancellation of Removal Project Pilot.
The initiative is part of the ILCM’s broader Pro Bono Project, which trains and coordinates volunteer legal professionals to represent clients in high-demand areas of immigration law. In 2017, ILCM expanded the Pro Bono Project to include removal defense work—beginning with the launch of the Cancellation of Removal Project Pilot—in response to the Department of Homeland Security’s increase in enforcement actions against immigrants and refugees.
Through its work on this initiative, Robins Kaplan has provided pro bono support to help launch and develop the Cancellation of Removal Project Pilot. In addition to the Cancellation of Removal Pilot Project, Robins Kaplan pro bono attorneys have helped clients referred through ILCM obtain protection from deportation under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program and obtain U.S. Citizenship.
“Robins Kaplan is committed to leveling the playing field for those who lack access to justice, and we are thrilled to be recognized by ILCM as a Pro Bono Partner of the Year,” said Patrick Arenz, chair of Robins Kaplan’s pro bono committee. “It has been an honor for our firm to work alongside the ILCM to provide pro bono support and assistance for these detained immigrants.”
Robins Kaplan attorneys who have participated in the pilot include associates Ari B. Lukoff and Kris Teng.
