April 23, 2018

Minneapolis, MN—April 23, 2018—Robins Kaplan LLP® is pleased to announce the promotion of Chandra Kilgriff to Chief Talent and Diversity Officer. She previously served as the firm’s Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Pro Bono.

A dedicated advocate for inclusion in the legal profession, Kilgriff ensures that diverse perspectives are represented in all aspects of the firm’s talent management. Since 2015, she has spearheaded the implementation of Robins Kaplan’s Leaders Engaged in the Advancement of Diversity (LEAD) initiative, which empowers the firm’s leaders to take concrete steps to increase diversity and holds them accountable for their results. In her new role, Kilgriff will serve as a member of the firm’s core leadership team and provide strategic direction for all firm functions impacting talent, including professional development, human resources, and pro bono efforts.

“Chandra has consistently pushed the firm to develop innovative, groundbreaking programs that further our longstanding commitment to supporting women and creating an inclusive environment,” said Shonette Gaston, Robins Kaplan’s chief operating officer. “The results from these initiatives have been immediate, tangible, and transformative.”

Under Kilgriff’s leadership, Robins Kaplan received the “Award of Excellence” from Profiles in Diversity Journal, was named the “Most Inclusive Law Firm for LGBT Lawyers” from Chambers USA, and has consistently earned a 100 percent rating on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index. In 2017, Profiles in Diversity Journal recognized Kilgriff as a “Diversity Leader” for her work on the LEAD initiative.

“Robins Kaplan’s commitment to diversity and inclusion dates back to the firm’s founding in 1938 by two lawyers who had experienced religious discrimination,” said Martin Lueck, chairman of Robins Kaplan’s Executive Board. “Thanks to Chandra’s strong commitment to promoting diversity, Robins Kaplan has taken real strides in promoting women and minority leaders within the firm.”

Kilgriff received her J.D. and master’s degree in public policy from Georgetown University, and was a 2014-2015 Policy Fellow at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs.

Prior to joining Robins Kaplan, she was a tax attorney at a national law firm, and she continues to represent low-income taxpayers and non-profit organizations in her pro bono practice.

Kilgriff currently serves on the boards of directors of Minds Matter Twin Cities and American Model United Nations, and volunteers with The Arc Greater Twin Cities. She is a member of the Association of Law Firm Diversity Professionals, the Association of Pro Bono Counsel, and Minnesota Women Lawyers.
