Robins Kaplan National Trial Chair Roman Silberfeld Named a Plaintiffs’ Trial Trailblazer by The National Law Journal
October 11, 2017

Los Angeles, CA—October 11, 2017—Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that Roman Silberfeld, national trial chair and member of the firm’s Executive Board, has been recognized as a 2017 Plaintiffs’ Trial Trailblazer by The National Law Journal.
This inaugural trailblazer award recognizes innovative plaintiff attorneys who have moved the needle in terms of the practice, policy, and other advancements in their field. Only 15 attorneys were recognized on this year’s list.
Silberfeld has earned more than 80 trial victories, including the biggest award ever granted in a Hollywood accounting lawsuit ($319 million with interest) over profits from ABC’s “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.”
In a career spanning more than four decades, he has also performed groundbreaking work in asbestos and mass tort litigation, having established innovative practices in these areas. One of Silberfeld’s innovations—the creation of a “suspense docket” for plaintiffs who hadn’t yet manifested the disease, allowing more severe cases to receive attention first—was adopted nationwide and is still in place today. He also created general orders to apply to all matters in a mass tort, MDL, or coordinated proceeding, and pioneered the selection and trial of bellwether cases.
Silberfeld was elected dean of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers in April 2017, and in 2016 was selected to serve as chairman of the advisory board of the newly launched Civil Justice Research Institute.
The Plaintiffs’ Trial Trailblazers list is available here.
