Robins Kaplan LLP Honored by the American Antitrust Institute for 2016 Antitrust Enforcement Awards
October 10, 2016
October 10, 2016—Robins Kaplan LLP® is pleased to announce that the American Antitrust Institute (AAI) will be honoring the co-lead counsel of In re Air Cargo Shipping Services Antitrust Litigation and William Reiss for its 2016 Antitrust Enforcement Awards.
The co-lead counsel of In re Air Cargo Shipping Services Antitrust Litigation will be honored for AAI’s “Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement in Private Law Practice” category. Hollis Salzman, partner and co-chair of Robins Kaplan’s Antitrust and Trade Regulation Practice, serves as co-lead counsel for the plaintiff class in this case, which involves a decade-long global price-fixing conspiracy to inflate prices of shipping services against major air freight carriers around the world. This past May, the co-counsel secured settlements with the remaining two of nearly three dozen air carriers, pushing the plaintiffs’ total recoveries to over $1.2 billion. In October, the last four settlements with defendants were granted final approval by the court. With this award, AAI recognized the co-lead counsel’s tireless work in driving this landmark piece of antitrust litigation.
William Reiss, principal at Robins Kaplan, will be honored for AAI’s “Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement by a Young Lawyer” category for his work on In re Automotive Parts Antitrust Litigation, the unprecedented, ongoing multidistrict litigation stemming from the largest criminal antitrust investigation in U.S. history. The case, which involves allegations that an international cartel engaged in a long-running price-fixing conspiracy in the automotive parts industry, has resulted in more than $650 million in settlements to date.
The complete list of AAI’s 2016 honorees can be found here. The awards will be presented at a gala dinner on November 9 in Washington, D.C.
