Robins Kaplan LLP Successfully Urges Halt to “Rods and Stones” Event at Roselawn Cemetery
August 19, 2016
MINNEAPOLIS, MN—Aug. 19, 2016—Roselawn Cemetery planned to host a hot rod car show with a barbeque, music, and door prizes on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016. Robins Kaplan LLP® represented, on a pro bono basis, a private family plot holder who learned of the event only five days in advance. Our client and others were concerned that this event was inappropriate at a cemetery where their relatives were buried.
A team including Cyrus Morton, Ari Lukoff, and Emily Niles worked to resolve the issue with the cemetery and its public relations firm while preparing to take emergency legal action. On Wednesday evening, Aug. 17, the Roselawn Cemetery’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to cancel the event and issued a press release explaining its decision. Robins Kaplan is proud of the work done and that the matter was ultimately resolved to the satisfaction of our client and many other interested individuals.
