Roman Silberfeld to Chair Board of Advisors of Civil Justice Research Institute
April 28, 2016
The University of California, Irvine School of Law recently announced that Roman Silberfeld will serve as the Chair of the Board of Advisors for the school’s Civil Justice Research Institute. This newly launched organization seeks to "explore, through interdisciplinary, academically-based, and independent research, how the civil justice system can be made more available to everyone seeking relief."
Roman is an Executive Board Member of Robins Kaplan LLP with a record of courtroom success across many challenging disciplines. A highly experienced trial lawyer, Roman serves as the firm’s National Trial Chair, a role in which he marshals proven and effective trial strategies, tactics, and techniques to benefit the firm’s clients nationwide.
The new Civil Justice Research Institute will examine a wide range of topics in the legal field, including insufficient funding for state and federal courts, the use of compulsory arbitration clauses, and restrictions on class action lawsuits. When commenting on the Institute’s mission, Roman noted,
"Our democracy depends on an independent and functioning civil justice system. Access to the courts for the redress of grievances is a fundamental right and that right has been eroded over time. This Institute will ensure that leaders, legislators and courts have the factual research and data they need to set policy for generations to come, all with the goal of preserving our justice system which has been and remains the model for the world."
