June 2012
MINNEAPOLIS (June 2012) — Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. is pleased to announce the firm is recommended as a top national plaintiff firm for patent law and also listed as Gold for Litigation and Licensing in Minneapolis, in the Intellectual Asset Magazine (IAM) Patent 1000: The World's Leading Patent Practitioners 2012, a new guide that identifies the top patent practitioners in key jurisdictions around the globe. The firm is the only one in Minnesota to receive that top Gold designation, and partner Ronald J. Schutz are named "Recommended Individuals" for the state. Mr. Schutz is also recommended as a top national plaintiff patent lawyer.
The guide notes:
Clients can't get enough of the "simply fabulous" firm. Its collaborative approach is a particular hit: "The lawyers take the time to understand our needs and provide advice that is tailored to our objectives and strategy." Litigation is its forte, demonstrated by its long history of success in high-profile trials. Sources admire its understated style in the courtroom, agreeing that the team "has no airs and no hubris, so they have plenty of credibility in court."
Its wealth of technical knowledge is another factor in its success: "It takes them next to no time to wrap their minds around the underlying issues of a case." Its expertise covers the gamut of industries - although recently the group has handled a great deal of life sciences work - and its client roster is similarly diverse, ranging from small start-ups to global corporations.
The inaugural edition of 2012 IAM Patent 1000 was compiled following an extensive research process. Over five months, IAM conducted almost 1,000 telephone interviews with numerous attorneys at law, patent attorneys and in-house counsel to gather market intelligence on the leading players in the field. Individuals qualify for a listing in the IAM Patent 1000 when they receive sufficient positive feedback from peers and clients with knowledge of their practice and the market within which they operate. Only those individuals identified by market sources for their exceptional skill sets and profound insights into patent litigation feature in the IAM Patent 1000.
