Roman Silberfeld Named Fellow of Int'l Academy of Trial Lawyers
December 10, 2002
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (December 2002) -- Attorney Roman M. Silberfeld has been named a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers (IATL). Silberfeld is the managing partner of the Los Angeles office of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P.
IATL President Boadus A. Spivey said the "standards for admission are high and the nomination process is very extensive and thorough," limiting the number of Fellows in the organization from the United States to only 500. Spivey also said that Silberfeld has "outstanding skills and extensive experience as a trial lawyer, unimpeachable personal and professional character, integrity and honesty."
Silberfeld focuses his practice on complex civil litigation, including personal injury, product liability, professional negligence and mass tort litigation. He has served as lead counsel in a number of high-profile cases, including the Los Angeles County coordinated asbestos litigation and the nationwide Gammagard blood products litigation. He was also chair of the plaintiff's steering committee for the California coordinated breast-implant litigation and of the Diethylstilbestrol Litigation Group.
Silberfeld graduated from the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA) with honors, and received his J.D. from Loyola Law School, where he was the editor of the Law Review. He is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Consumer Attorneys of California and Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles. He is also a board member and officer of Public Counsel, and the San Bernardino National Forest Association. Silberfeld was honored in 1999 by Loyola Law School as Trial Lawyer of the Year.
IATL's purpose is to cultivate the science of jurisprudence, promote reforms in the law, facilitate the Administration of Justice, promote the Rule of Law internationally, elevate the standards of integrity, honor and courtesy in the legal profession, and cherish the spirit of brotherhood among the members. IATL's Active Academy includes 500 Fellows from the United States and 100 Fellows from over 30 countries throughout the world. Members are engaged in civil and criminal trial practice from both the plaintiff's and the defendant's side of the counsel table.
