Overview

Marcus Guith is an experienced litigator specializing in complex products liability and healthcare fraud disputes. He frequently represents both plaintiffs and defendants in high-stakes matters, including actions where the amount in controversy reaches or exceeds $100 million.

In 2024, Marcus played a key role in securing a $73 million jury verdict in a complex products liability case. The case involved a propane-powered forklift that caught fire and exploded at a tissue mill, causing extensive property damage and business disruption. Over four years of litigation, Marcus and the trial team managed extensive discovery, conducted numerous depositions, and argued a wide range of pre-trial motions, culminating in an eight-week jury trial. For this work, Marcus was named an “Attorney of the Year” by Minnesota Lawyer.

Marcus also maintains an active pro bono practice with a focus on housing law, including rent escrow, eviction defense, and eviction expungement matters. He regularly volunteers with the Hennepin County Housing Clinic in partnership with the Volunteer Lawyers Network and received the firm’s Pro Bono Award in 2022, recognizing his significant commitment to pro bono service.

Before joining Robins Kaplan, Marcus served as a judicial law clerk for four years—first for Judge Paul L. Maloney of the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan and then for Judge Richard Allen Griffin of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He draws on the insights gained during these clerkships to provide strategic guidance and effective advocacy for his clients. Marcus attended the University of Minnesota Law School, where he served as managing editor of the Minnesota Law Review, interned with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota, and externed for Judge Patrick J. Schiltz of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
