Associate
Experience
Ryan is a trial lawyer focused on complex technology disputes. He represents large multi-national corporations as well as mid-sized companies and start-ups in patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secret litigation matters. Ryan’s practice has taken him around the globe, and he has deposed adverse witnesses in over five countries.
Ryan helps clients protect investments in product lines through both offensive and defensive legal strategies. For example, Ryan has defeated competitors’ patents in front of the Patent Office. He has also defended against validity challenges and secured infringement verdicts of his client’s intellectual property in U.S. District Court. And he has upheld permanent injunctions prohibiting the sale of competitors’ products at the Federal Circuit.
Ryan has experience in a range of technologies and products, including cell phones and telecommunications (touch screens, video compression and transmission, and LTE wireless communications), medical devices and laboratory supplies (arthroscopic knee implants, automatic resuscitation devices, heart valves, laboratory assays, catheters, and stents), oil field equipment (on-shore drill bits and mud systems, offshore drill ships and BOPs, perforating guns, pipe fittings and insulators), and motor vehicles (ATVs, side-by-sides, golf carts, transmissions, and superchargers).
