Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that partner William Reiss along with Robins Kaplan has been appointed interim co-lead counsel on behalf of indirect purchasers in In re Fanatics Sports Trading Cards Antitrust Litigation, a high-profile antitrust class action recently consolidated in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

The lawsuit alleges that Fanatics and multiple major professional sports leagues and players associations, including the NFL, NBA, and MLB, engaged in anticompetitive conduct to monopolize the sports trading card market, harming collectors, hobbyists, and indirect purchasers across the United States.

Reiss, alongside his co-lead counsel from DiCello Levitt LLP and Zelle LLP, will be responsible for coordinating all litigation efforts on behalf of the proposed classes. This includes overseeing discovery, managing motion practice, assigning work among plaintiffs' counsel, engaging in settlement negotiations, and ensuring that the interests of indirect purchasers are vigorously represented throughout the legal proceedings.

“Sports fans around the country spanning all ages revel in buying and collecting sports trading cards. These consumers have been forced to face higher prices in a market that has grown increasingly consolidated,” Reiss said. “We are committed to uncovering the facts and ensuring that consumers continue to benefit from free and fair competition.”
