Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. Grows Restructuring and Business Bankruptcy Team

Los Angeles, June 2014 – Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. is pleased to announce that Lorie A. Ball, Jennifer W. Leland and Lucas A. Messenger have joined the firm’s restructuring and business bankruptcy practice in the firm’s Los Angeles office.

These associates will work with new partners Howard J. Weg, Scott F. GautierJames P. Menton, Jr., and David B. Shemano, announced last month. All the attorneys came from Peitzman Weg LLP, a nationally known and leading corporate restructuring and bankruptcy boutique. The team’s collective experience spans decades of practice in high-profile corporate restructuring, bankruptcy, and commercial litigation matters in California and nationwide.

Lorie Ball specializes in bankruptcy and corporate reorganization law with experience representing debtors, creditors’ and bondholders’ committees, secured and unsecured financial institutions and lender syndicates. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Loyola Law School and a B.A. with honors from California State University, Fullerton.

Jennifer Leland focuses on business-related litigation and represents public corporations, privately held companies, and individuals in all phases of business litigation in federal and state courts. She also has experience representing debtors, trustees and creditors in bankruptcy-related litigation. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Hastings College of Law, and her B.A., cum laude, from University of California, San Diego.

Lucas Messenger is an experienced litigator whose clients have included institutional clients involved in complex commercial litigation. He has an extensive background representing global financial services companies, hedge funds and energy companies and regularly manages litigation for clients including commercial and contract disputes, bankruptcy-related litigation, class actions, unfair competition and antitrust violations. He received his J.D. from University of Southern California Law School, and his B.A. from University of Michigan.
