July 5, 2017

Minneapolis, MNJuly 5, 2017—Robins Kaplan LLP® is pleased to announce that Jake Holdreith, member of the Executive Board, has been named an Intellectual Property Trailblazer by The National Law Journal. This annual award recognizes the efforts of lawyers who are changing the ways in which IP is protected and managed, raising the bar on the practice of trademark, patent, and copyright law, and leading innovation in the field.

Over the course of his career, Holdreith has established himself as an innovative go-to patent litigator for generic pharmaceutical makers and technology companies alike. He has obtained multimillion-dollar verdicts for patent owners, including a $12 million settlement in Personal Audio LLC v. Apple Inc., where he persuaded a jury that Apple’s iPod infringed his client’s patents; a $25 million award after a jury found that Sony infringed four patents relating to digital camera technology in St. Clair Intellectual Property Consultants, Inc. v. Sony Corp. et al.; and a $34.7 million award in a similar action against Canon in St. Clair Intellectual Property Consultants, Inc. v. Canon, Inc. et al

Holdreith has also secured defense wins including a summary judgement of non-infringement of 10 patents in Auxilium v. Upsher-Smith Labs; a trial judgment of invalidity of three patents in Purdue v. Actavis; an early dismissal of three patents in Purdue v. Collegium; and denial of an injunction after a bench trial, which later resulted in invalidity of the asserted patent, in Medicis Pharm. Corp. v. Upsher-Smith Labs.

Holdreith is also a recipient of the 2016 “Hatch-Waxman Impact Cases of the Year” award and was named a “Life Sciences Star” by LMG Life Sciences and a Notable Practitioner in Intellectual Property by Chambers USA.
