This article is to describe the amicus brief of the American Society of Journalists & Authors (ASJA). ASJA consists of approximately 1,400 members who are writers of non-fiction books and magazine articles. The requirements for membership in the organisation are stringent: for example, nonfiction book authors qualify with two or more traditionally published nonfiction books or one book with a second under contract. Article authors must provide a minimum of six substantial by-lined articles written on a freelance basis in national publications that pay for the written word.
The articles on our Website include some of the publications and papers authored by our attorneys, both before and after they joined our firm. The content of these articles should not be taken as legal advice.
