While I am a registered patent attorney, the bulk of my career has focused on litigation and the re-examinations that often go along with patent cases. Under the America Invents Act (AIA), the largely separate worlds of patent prosecution and patent litigation have collided—we now have litigation in the patent office! This is but one of a myriad of dramatic changes to the patent system in the past few years.
