I have always had a love of the complex puzzles of medicine and patient care. During medical school at Ohio State University, my love of complexity led me to the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. I not only cherished the deliveries and surgeries, I also enjoyed the high risk care involved in helping families through complicated situations.
My training led me to a residency at a large hospital in Columbus, Ohio. The large obstetric volume, which was featured on the reality television show, “One Born Every Minute,” gave me excellent training in challenging surgical procedures and rare complications of pregnancy and labor.
After training, I enjoyed a busy Ob/Gyn practice in my home state of Minnesota. During my five years of clinical practice, I became board certified, won patient care awards, had research published in a medical journal, and was elected the hospital chairperson of my department. The most rewarding part of my job was being with patients during both the joyous and heartbreaking times. During my time in clinical practice, I have had the joy of helping over 1,000 babies into the world. Throughout my work with patients, and at the hospital, I maintained a goal of providing a very high standard for patient care. It has always been very important to me that patients can expect and receive excellent care.
My desire for evidenced-based standard of care, compassion for people experiencing loss, and love of analytical thinking, led me to my new role of Physician Advisor at Robins Kaplan LLP. My role includes involvement in cases from the beginning to the resolution. I evaluate medical records, perform analysis of the case, support the claim with medical research, review the case with the medical experts, and advise the team on the validity of the claim. Although my area of expertise is Obstetrics and Gynecology, my clinical experience and training give me the ability to assess cases in a wide number of areas. I also have the advantage of being able to imagine myself in the position of the care providers involved. I am very excited to be a part of this intelligent, compassionate, and ethical team.
